May is a milestone month for ACE/FIVE. One year ago we started curating music that we were partial to with the hope that there would come a day where our playlists could be heard in store. Last week that became a reality when we officially opened the doors to our pop-up shop in Toronto, Canada.
Majid Jordan, an ever-present on our playlists are back with a feature for a relatively unknown act, Somewhere Else. Moved Together debuted on OVO Sound Episode 22 last week and is a shop favourite. Two unreleased demos from PARTYNEXTDOOR, another contributor to the OVO camp, surfaced last week; one of which is the reference track to "Work" by Rihanna. James Blake's new LP The Colour in Anything was made available last week and is completely overwhelming in it's sonic and vocal ability. While Bon Iver made the final track list, the original version of "Timeless" featuring Kanye West was cut. Kid Cudi marks his return to hip hop with another piece of audio that's more Man on the Moon than Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven. Lastly, and contributing further to the Toronto presence on Chapter 12 are artists Tory Lanez, JAHKOY, and J-Soul.
Honourable Mention: Skepta's fourth studio album, Konnichiwa. Another shop favourite and one that has been getting more plays than our neighbours likely care for. Do yourselves a favour, and purchase it here.
